PA Convention/Rally

August 31, 2010 by Barbara Malone

What a great time we had at the PA Convention/Rally.  I ran into a dilemma Wednesday evening when my puppy sitter, because of illness, had to cancel watching Honey.  My dog sitter (for Bear my 16 year old) could not come as many times during the day that a puppy would need. Because Honey is so young I would not board her.  A quick call to the hotel confirmed they are Pet friendly, so I decided not to cancel the convention/rally, but to leave the motorcycle home and go by van.

It was a great solution, I got to go and see all my friends and make new ones and Honey got to go on her first trip.  She traveled very well for a 15 week old puppy and had a blast at the convention/rally.  She thought the 300+ people in attendance came to see her, and I think she met just about everyone of them.  She was the darling of the convention/rally.

As you all know the Lampe's were selected to represent Region B as the Couple of the Year for 2011, congrats to them.  NJ won for the largest District in attendance outside of PA, congrats to us!

We took a side trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo to visit the aquarium and go through the Polar Bear tunnel to watch them swim.  We were told that polar bears only spend 10% of their time in the water so you might not see them swim.  We were in luck, after watching her play on land for 10 minutes she decided to dive in.  We were in the tunnel, much like the tunnel of a shark tank, and got a wonderful 45 minute show of watching her just being a polar bear.  She played with her toys, swam and at one time came and touched the glass, her paw and my hand touching the glass at the same time.  WOW!  Janie would have loved this.

The day time temp in Johnstown was in the low 80's, but we woke to 50 degrees in the morning, burr.  The days were filled with sunshine and dry roads, the hilly area was great for riding.  The vertical incline is a favorite attraction.

PA announced that their convention/rally would be later in September for 2011 and would be in Carlisle.  It should be a great time, so if you could not make it this year, we hope that your schedule will allow you to attend next year and join in on all the F-Troop fun.
